Pigs Back English Market

Farmhouse Cheeses, Charcuterie, Fresh Breads, Irish Artisan Food, and French Epicerie and Specialities, makes the stall in The English Market the rendez vous of Irish Gourmets and Foodies. Established in 1992, by French Woman Isabelle Sheridan, the stall in the English Market  went from  strength to strength, with, recently, receiving the award for the Best Market Stall in Co Cork!!

The English Market in Cork, is the oldest trading Covered Food Market in Europe. It is open Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 5.30 pm, and there is an amazing restaurant ‘The Farmgate’ on the balcony upstairs from  where you can watch the buzz while eating the local delicacies!

Our stall was visited by HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and HM Queen Elizabeth II on 20 May 2011. 

We have an amazing selection of hundreds of Farmhouse Cheeses, mostly from Ireland and Cork County, and, also, direct import from Cheesemongers in France which allow us to have the cheeses at their best!! We have being working directly with  Farmhouse Cheeses Makers for the past 20 years and enjoy ‘talking cheese’!!  More than 75% of our cheeses are Irish Farmhouse Cheeses. 

Declan Ryan’s Arbutus Sourdough Breads are a great accompaniment with our cheeses and Charcuterie. On The Pig’s Back was Arbutus Bread’s first customer!!

Our 20 year anniversary in The English Market was celebrated in November 2012, and of course the cake was especially made for the occasion by MILLEENS Cheese!!!

Our Selection of Charcuterie is unique in Ireland and includes our Homemade Pates and terrines which won many awards.
